PROF. QRISSTUBERG AMUA

Qrisstuberg Amua is a Professor of Inorganic/Bioinorganic Chemistry and leads Mechanochemistry Research bothering metals in medicine at British Canadian University Obudu (BCU), Cross River State, Nigeria.
Before BCU he has led Mechanochemistry Research and taught Inorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (formerly Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi) for several years; where he also has been Deputy Director at the Centre for Gender Studies of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi. He also worked on the Steering Committee for the establishment of a College of Health Sciences for University of Mkar, Mkar in Benue State. Prior to this, he also held a fixed-term as pioneer Dean of Students’ Affairs at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, Nigeria (under the Vice-Chancellorship of Professor James Ayatse, the present Tor Tiv and paramount king of the Tiv Nation), after an initial eleven year Lecturership at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi. He also held a fixed-term Visiting Research Fellowship in Mechanochemistry at Centre for the Theory and Applications of Catalysis (CenTACat), School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queens University Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. He received his BSc at the Benue State University Makurdi under the supervision of Atu Ausaji Ayuk, followed with an M.Sc. at the same Benue State University Makurdi with Stephen G. Yiase. He obtained his split-site PhD, of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi entirely researched at Queens University Belfast (QUB) and supervised by Professors David Rooney and Stuart James (Chair of Inorganic Chemistry at Queens), with part funding from Nigeria’s TETFund AST&D and CenTACat of QUB. His current research interests are in catalyst-free, solvent-free self-assembly methodologies of green mechanochemical synthesis in diverse areas of inorganic, organic, metal-organic, pharmaceutical, supramolecular, food, agricultural and materials Chemistry; and metal–organic frameworks, catalysis and ionic liquids. His previous research spanned ab initio derivation of a diatomic bond dissociation equation; development of a chemical technology for synthesis of water soluble organotin (IV) carboxylates; and solvent-free, catalyst-free, solid state mechanochemical synthesis of pharmaceutically attractive N’(4-cyanobenzylidene)-4-aminobenzoylhydrazone and N’(4-cyanobenzylidene)-2-aminobenzoylhydrazone and their imine N-metalated complexes of some first transition series metals. He has co-authored several research and review articles and also supervised and mentored PhDs and M.Scs both at Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER) - a World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) at the Benue State University Makurdi, Nigeria; and the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi, Nigeria. Professor Qrisstuberg Amua is currently consulting with the Benue State Governor His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia on the Benue State Swine/Crop Improvement Project, as well as with the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on International Investments Sir Alex A. Addingi; on a new 180,000 MT ammonia - 300,000 MT urea fertiliser manufacturing plant and many other significant aspects and projects of the Special Adviser to the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on International Investments.
